Hi !
Display on my HP Dv6500 has suddenly got dim. It's like you can see the contents on the display but only when you focus and tilt the laptop screen. What could be the problem.
I get all the lights on my keyboard ie when you press Num Lock or Caps lock.
Kindly advise where to look.
Is there something like display power strip that gets corrupted or is it that the power supply to the screen is affected.
Regards
Sameer

Hey there! @Sameer84,
Does the issue persist on the BIOS page?
Please share the product number of the PC to assist you better.
Try the steps recommended below.
1. Go into "Control Panel" and then "Power Options".
2. Click the "Change plan settings" link next to whichever plan you are currently using and then click "Change advanced power settings".
3. In this new window click "Display" to open up the listings under it.
4. Now locate and click each of the following..."Display brightness", "Dimmed display brightness" and"Enable adaptive brightness".
5. Change each of these to the settings you wish, then click the "Apply" button and finally the "OK" button.
6. You should be good.
Also, Select Start, choose Settings, then select System > Display. Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness. (If the slider isn't there, see the Notes section below.)
Some PCs can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions. To find out if your PC supports this, in Display settings, under Brightness and color, look for the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes check box and then select it to use this feature. This automatic setting helps make sure your screen is readable wherever you go. Even if you use it, you can still move the Change brightness slider to fine-tune the brightness level.
Notes:
You might not see the Change brightness slider on desktop PCs that have an external monitor. To change the brightness on an external monitor, use the buttons on it.
If you don't have a desktop PC and the slider doesn't appear or work, try updating the display driver. In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results. In Device Manager, select Display adapters, then select the display adapter. Press and hold (or right-click) the display adapter name, then select Update driver and follow the instructions.
Lastly, Try updating BIOS, graphics and chipset drivers on your PC and check if it helps.
Try updating the drivers on the PC using HP support assistant.

If the issue persists on the BIOS page it is a hardware issue with the PC.
