Like many other Windows 10 users my touchpad (and mouse buttons) disable when typing. This is obviously completely undesirable. After a few minutes of searching the internet i found a solution to disable the Synaptics Touchpad .. here's what i found. i hope it helps someone in the future,.

go to the search bar on the task bar type in Synaptics. an app will appear in the search results. open the app, on the bottom you will see an option for disable internal pointing device when an external USB device is attached. Now i have a BT mouse and was unsure if it would work for this specific device but it did. as soon as i clicked apply i got a notification that the touchpad was disabled because an external device was detected.

Happy Trails Folks.
