Probook 450 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I recently bought my laptop and suddenly overnight, the display adjustment function keys (f2 & f3) stopped being able to adjust the display brightness. The keys still work for other functions and the other function keys still work like normal. I have tried all the tricks provided in other forums, like updating the drivers, but so far nothing has worked.

I really hope this issue can be fixed as it is annoying without the keys.

Thanks

I've solved this on multiple 830 G5 and 840 G5 laptops. They are running Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit with update 1803 installed. I have installed the latest BIOS, HP Hotkey Support, AND the HP Collaboration Keyboard. It seems that the brightness Fn keys will only work after installing the collaboration software.

Hi Fabbev,

So have you tried uninstalling the graphics driver in device manager?

Make sure you have installed both of these updates:

HP Firmware Pack

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp85001-85500/sp85180.exe

HP Hotkey Support

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81790.exe

Regards.

You'll need to download the 'HP Hotkey Support' drivers in 'Software-Solution' section of 'Software and driver results' page at https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-probook-450-g5-notebook-pc/17047142

This resolved this issue for my ProBook 450 G5 running Windows 10 1803.

Hi, Thanks so much, after months of trying different solutions, this worked instantly after installing the collaboration keyboard driver.

This HP Hotkey Support Driver is an outdated link. Is there another link that will provide the Hotkey driver needed to fix the F2 and F3 dim and brighten keys?  Many thanks!
