Well it’s not letting me pick a computer just printers, I’m trying to find out how to make the display on a computer to go up. Yes I have gone into the settings but it will not let me turn up the brightness, yes I have used the keyboard to turn it up and nothing. I have no clue what to do and have never ran into this problem before. Any help would to since it’s for an elderly woman.

Hi @Weeniebeans23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that the brightness slider and keyboard controls do not work on an HP computer; the issue may be related to the display setup, display driver, or monitor connection.

Try these steps

  • Check if the PC is connected to an external monitor or TV

    • If yes, brightness may need to be adjusted on the monitor/TV itself, not in Windows.

  • Verify display settings

    • Go to Display settings and check that the resolution is set correctly for the screen.

    • HP notes that incorrect display settings can make the screen look wrong or unclear.

  • If using multiple monitors

    • Go to Display settings and confirm the correct display is selected and enabled.

  • If using an all-in-one or special display connection

    • HP explains that display behavior can depend on the connection type and adapter being used.

If brightness still cannot be changed

This can happen when:

  • The system is using the wrong display driver

  • The display is connected in a way that does not support Windows brightness controls

  • The screen is being treated like an external display

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
