Good morning,
I have an HP notebook model 15-eg0029nl with a damaged display that needs replacing.
The display code is NV156FHM-N45, IPS full HD.
Now I have other full HD IPS displays powered by the 30 pin connector, but with different codes.
Can I try these other displays if they can work or is it not recommended? Thank you

Hi @Fabius11,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you have other full HD IPS displays with a 30-pin connector but different model codes, it's possible that they may work as replacements for your damaged display. Here are a few considerations to keep in mind.
- Connector Compatibility: Ensure that the replacement displays also use a 30-pin connector. This is crucial as different connector types won't fit or work with your laptop.
- Resolution and Technology: Since you mentioned they are all full HD IPS displays, the resolution (1920x1080 pixels) and IPS technology should match. This ensures compatibility in terms of image quality and viewing angles.
- Model Specificity: While different model codes may indicate slight variations in manufacturing or features, if the connector and resolution match, they are likely compatible. It's common for manufacturers to use different model numbers for displays that are essentially the same in terms of basic specifications.
- Testing: The best way to determine compatibility definitively is to test the replacement displays if possible. Connect them and see if they light up and display properly. Check for color accuracy, brightness, and any artifacts.
- Risk Consideration: There's always a small risk when using a display not specifically listed for your model, such as potential issues with mounting or slight differences in display behavior. However, if the basic specifications match, the risk is generally minimal.
As long as the replacement displays have the same resolution, technology (IPS), and connector type (30-pin), they are likely to work. Testing them before final installation is recommended to ensure compatibility and functionality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
