01/02/2016 9:21am EST. Just used HP Support Assistant and there are NO updates. The assistant checks every day for updates, so if there was one it would already have been applied.
The very least HP should do is acknowledge this problem and give a timeline for a solution, but I see none of that on this thread.
Doesn't matter if this is a hardware or software issue; HP needs to acknowledge and fix it.
Back around '07 HP had a problem w/ Nvidia graphics chips overheating and causing graphics problems and eventual system failure. There was a class action suite about this. My HP laptop just missed the cutoff date for compensation. I rebuilt it with a new motherboard and new 500GB disk (primary disk was in failure mode) Win Vist machine I have been using until now. Looks like I'll be going back to it for awhile when I return this one.
I'm not going to sit around and wait when they don't even acknowledge the issue.

Is it even possible that technical support are doing absolutely nothing to solve the issue. I sent my case to them and all they responded was that i need to download a software that actually made the problem worse.
I have reset my laptop and downloaded Chrome. Now its functioning well since yesterday.

I have found that unchecking use hardware acceleration in the Firefox browser has solved my problems.
Click the menu bars at topright, then options, then advanced on left, then general tab under advanced and uncheck use hardware acceleration when available. If you use Firefox maybe this will at least help you while web browsing

I may have solved my display driver crashing problem....not quite sure yet.
I saw this summary posted on another forum
Step #5 worked for me.
In my case, I don't think the graphics driver was crashing, rather I think that Windows 10 was shutting the driver down. Not necessarily a driver problem.
So, I think this "fix" turned off code in Windows 10 that was creating, or allowing the driver to create, a potential problem.
This summary may be implying that memory should be increase to 16 Gb or that the graphics card should be upgraded...not sure on that.
In any case, I like this computer, so I will be pleased if this is a fix.

I have a new (Dec. 2015) HP Envy w/ Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Intel(R) HD Graphics 530, and installed the Intel Graphics driver below on Jan. 29, 2016 and no problems yet, 02/04/2016.
Go to the HP Support page
enter your “product number” (Copy this from HP Support Assistant) and go to “Software and driver results for: YOUR COMPUTER. Go To “Driver Graphics”. There should only be one driver to choose. See below. Download this driver and install it.

- Fixes an issue which causes the display to stop functioning properly.
HP Support Assistant does not find this update, in fact it seems to only find updates that are months old. WEIRD. I had to update the BIOS manually to F.25 when Support Assistant refused to.
