Hi All, since few days when I plug (USB-C) my Acer portable monitor PM161Q, my laptop display is acting weird, flickering where the portable monitor doesn't switch on. Any idea to help? I already have updated all drivers, etc ; troubleshoot, uninstall usb port then re-installed. Tried on IPAD pro using same cable without pb. 2 days ago no pb and now cannot use portable monitor anymore. Thanks for your help

Thank you for posting back.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: ( do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating )
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks @Echo_Lake,
Product number: HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae013dx
No change, no upgrade, no download between the time I was able to connect and the issue.
I believe it is power issue. I have connected mini-usb cable in addition of the USB-C cable and now it's working but still why it worked before using only USB-C cable?? and now I need 2 cables!? (again, same cable is working fine on IPAD PRO with same portable monitor)
Not sure if it's link but in addition of this issue, I'm facing few others issue which makes me disappointed by HP or Wind10. Example the touchpad: many times system is resetting the settings (I already changed the register if you ask...) then I just open touchpad settings soft and without a clic my touchpad settings are coming back. Weird! (reverse scroll)
Other issue, wake up the laptop then all soft opened appear in a small window which I have to expand full screen
Thanks for your support really appreciated
