I hook my computer up to a flat screen tv monitor for presentation purposes. I use PowerPoint and must show videos as well.  My computer will show the PowerPoint but will not display the YouTube videos through the monitor.  I believe there are mirrored desktops because I can see 2 desktop icons at the bottom of my screen.  However, clicking on them still will not show the internet/Youtube video.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see that you're unable to play youtube video on an external monitor,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
  • Have you tried with a different browser s? (Google Chrome or internet explorer or Microsoft edge)
  • What is the screen resolution of both primary and secondary monitors?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

Let's try this:

  1. Go to Control Panel, on the Search Control Panel bar located on the upper-right corner of the Control Panel window, type Troubleshooting.
  2. Click Troubleshooting on the results pane.
  3. On the left pane, click View all.
  4. Look for Video playback, right-click, and have it Run as administrator.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  6. Please repeat the steps and then run the troubleshooter for Hardware and devices.
( Please check for the secondary screen display resolution is set to the 1920x1200 )

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
