Hi @Barnalidas13 ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a Display flickering issue with your HP Chromebook. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Screen flickering issues on a Chromebook can be caused by various factors, ranging from hardware problems to software issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Restart your Chromebook: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your Chromebook, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check for Updates: Ensure that your Chromebook's operating system and all installed apps are up to date. To check for updates:

  • Click on the clock in the bottom right corner.
  • Select the Settings gear icon.
  • Scroll down and click "About Chrome OS" on the left.
  • Click "Check for Updates."

Disable Hardware Acceleration: Some users have reported that disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome can resolve screen flickering issues. To do this:

  • Open Chrome.
  • Click on the three dots in the top-right corner.
  • Go to Settings > Advanced > System.
  • Toggle off "Use hardware acceleration when available."

Boot into Safe Mode: Boot your Chromebook into Safe Mode to check if the issue persists. Safe Mode will start your Chromebook with only the essential system files, which can help identify if the problem is caused by third-party apps or extensions.

Check for Malware: Install and run the Chrome Cleanup Tool to check for and remove any malicious software that might be affecting your system.

Adjust Screen Resolution: Try changing the screen resolution to see if it affects the flickering. To adjust the resolution:

  • Click on the clock in the bottom right corner.
  • Select the Settings gear icon.
  • Scroll down and click "Display."

Perform a Powerwash: A Powerwash is a factory reset for Chromebooks. It will remove all user data, so make sure to back up your important files before proceeding.

  • Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset settings.
  • Click "Powerwash" and follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
