Hi @Karthikhb,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It sounds like your HP Pavilion laptop has completely frozen while working on Altium Designer, and you're unable to interact with the system or shut it down normally. Let's go through the steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Force Restart the Laptop:
- Press and hold the Power button on your laptop for about 10-15 seconds until it turns off completely.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the Power button again to turn it back on.
2. Check for Overheating:
- After restarting, feel the bottom of your laptop. If it's excessively hot, let it cool down before using it again.
- Ensure the laptop is on a flat, hard surface to allow proper ventilation.
3. Boot into Safe Mode (if issue persists after restart):
- Force restart the laptop again by holding the Power button.
- As soon as you see the HP logo, press the F8 or F11 key repeatedly to enter the Recovery menu.
- Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Once the laptop restarts, press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
- In Safe Mode, check if the system runs without freezing.
4. Update Drivers and Windows:
- Update Display Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (right-click on Start, select Device Manager).
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click on your graphics adapter (e.g., AMD Radeon), and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Karthikhb,
Please find the remaining steps below.
5. Check Altium Designer Compatibility:
- Verify that Altium Designer is compatible with Windows 11 and fully updated. Older versions may have compatibility issues.
- Consider reinstalling Altium Designer if the issue persists specifically with that application.
6. Run System Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Run the Quick Test and, if necessary, the Extensive Test to check for hardware issues.
7. Check for Corrupted Files:
- Run SFC and DISM Commands:
- Type cmd in the Windows search box, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
- In the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Wait for the scan to complete.
- After that, type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter. This will repair any issues with the system image.
8. Check Event Viewer:
- Open Event Viewer by right-clicking the Start button and selecting it.
- Look under Windows Logs > System for any critical errors that coincide with the time of the freeze.
9. Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab and disable any unnecessary programs that start with Windows.
10. Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or your preferred antivirus software to rule out malware.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, the freeze might be related to a deeper hardware issue or a specific conflict with Altium Designer on your system. In that case, consider visiting an authorized HP service center for further diagnosis.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
