HP Chromebook B&O
Chrome OS

Just bought the computer yesterday. The contrast is off. Black looks grey, text looks light grey instead of black; it is very hard to read. I tried the nightlight and settings. I even looked in the posts, but while it says "solution" there isn't one provided.

If I cannot get this fixed today I will return it for an Asus.

Meanwhile:-

It could be a problem with screen mirroring. check if he has hooked up the laptop to a larger screen and has screen mirroring. It would be showing the unused screen. Ctrl + F3/F4 should resolve the issue.

If that does not work, try the steps mentioned in this document:- Click here

I hope that helps.
