Hi @Mahii21
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for sharing the images! Based on what I see, your HP Pavilion 15-ec2004AX is experiencing significant flickering at 144Hz, while at 60Hz, the flickering is reduced but still shows some lining.
Let's explore possible causes and solutions.
Possible Causes
- Driver Issues – Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause flickering.
- Refresh Rate Mismatch – Some displays struggle to maintain stability at higher refresh rates.
- Power Settings – High refresh rates require more power, and incorrect settings may cause instability.
- Hardware Fault – If flickering persists across refresh rates, the display panel itself may be faulty.
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Update Graphics Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Press Windows + X, then select Device Manager).
- Expand Display Adapters and right-click your GPU (NVIDIA or AMD).
- Select Update Driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Restart your laptop and check if the flickering improves.
Step 2: Adjust Refresh Rate Settings
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down and click Advanced display settings.
- Under Refresh Rate, select 144Hz and apply changes.
- If flickering persists, try 120Hz (if available) as a middle ground.
Step 3: Change Power Settings
- Open Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select High Performance instead of Balanced or Power Saver.
- Restart your laptop and test the display.
Step 4: Run HP Diagnostics
- Visit the HP Support page and download the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool.
- Run a Display Test to check for hardware issues.
Step 5: Check External Display (If Available)
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.
- Set the external monitor to 144Hz and check if flickering occurs.
- If the external display works fine, the issue is likely with your laptop’s screen.
If the flickering persists despite these steps, it may be a hardware issue with the display panel itself. In that case, replacing the screen might be necessary. Let me know how it goes! 😊
