ENVY x360 13-ay0009na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This thread has answered some of the questions I had about the video output capabilities of my new laptop:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Multi-Display-support-via-USB-C-on-th...

However, it also states "The maximum resolution and frame rate depends on the monitor you have."

My question is specifically about compatibility between the 13-ay0009na and the Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor, which I intend to buy for my desktop. I'd like to be able to use it with my 13-ay0009na, too, but I'm unsure whether the laptop will be able to drive the 5120x1440 resolution. Although I don't need more than 60fps from the laptop, I'd still like to know what kind of framerate and colour depth I can expect to see. Does anyone have any experience using this laptop with a 5120x1440 monitor like the Odyssey G9?

As a side question - my work laptop is a HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 Base Model (X3U19AV). Will I be able to get 5120x1440 out of the USB-C/Thuderbolt port using a  USB-C/Thuderbolt to Displayport 1.4 cable?

In theory Displayport 1.4 supports more than that

         https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#1.4

Your machine has

1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)

And your work machine has better USB-C port

       USB Type-C with Thunderbolt

Again, in theory you should get more than 5120x1440 resolution. Practically you need a right adapter/dock and a 8K cable

Regards.
