Hi, hope someone can help...

Without warning, my display appears to have failed.

On one occasion, the computer booted at 800x600 resolution but otherwise, the display appears as shown in the screenshot.

All I can really do is shut down at the login screen (as seen here).  On boot, there is no opportunity to enter the bios - at least the display doesn't appear.

Is this a hardware or software issue?

Edit:  So it looks like a hardware issue as the display is distorted immediately on boot.

There's no opportunity to get into bios.  No display when an external monitor is attached.

My guess is the display card is faulty - any other thoughts before I buy a second-hand replacement card?

Thanks for any help

As a follow up -  I took delivery of a display card I purchased on Ali Express - only 2 weeks to deliver...

Advertised as second hand but it turned out to be brand new.  Installed and started up - all working as expected - there's life in the old beast yet!

Ahh well, took the plunge and bought a replacement second hand Q4000M on AliExpress for $US54.  I'll report back after it's been delivered and installed..
