Tested the docking station with lenovo thinkpad usb-c worked fine no problem. No signal on monitors they will just go to sleep. This was working fine a few days ago now it's impossible to make the monitors work via the docking station.

Hardware:

  • Dock DELL WD19S 180W, 210-AZBU

  • HP ProBook 640 G8 i5-1135G7,2Y2J2EA
  • 2x HP EliteDisplay E241I 24"

What we have tried:

  • Updated firmware on dell dock to the latest

  • Updated all the drivers with HP support assistant

  • Updated windows 11 to latest build 22H2

  • Enabled optional updates in windows and installed all of them

  • Tried to install the HP Thunderbolt driver available on hp support page for this laptop, tried to install HP DisplayLink Graphic Driver also. After all that decided for a visit at consumer location

  • Removing all HP and Intel software I can find and let windows install it's own drivers and software

  • Tried to remove the GPU drivers from device manager and reboot and let windows set it's own drivers

  • Tried to update software and drivers via Intel Driver & Support Assistant

  • Tired to set the monitors via Intel Arc software

  • Tried to install all available HP drivers from HP support site for this laptop

  • Tried changing usb-c bios setting every possible combination (USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) and Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock)

  • Tried disabling fast boot in windows and bios

  • Tired disabling every power saving feature I can think off

  • Tired connecting monitor to hdmi output on laptop to hdmi connector (this worked but it's limited to only one monitor because there is only one hdmi output on laptop

  • Tried to connect monitor via hdmi output on the dock to hdmi input on monitor (this does not work)

  • Tired to rotate usb-c connector 180° still did not work

  • Tired to disable sleep when monitor lid is down and seeing if closing the lid will switch to dock monitors

  • Tired to factory reset both monitors

  • Tired to power down dock, monitors, laptop fully and then power on again

Any other suggestions or why it's not working?

The specs of your HP machine:

             https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06954394#AbT12

And the specs of your Dell dock

           https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/dell-docking-station-wd19s-180w/apd/210-azcf/pc-accessories#tec...

I would NOT buy expensive accessories from cross vendors because most of the time they are NOT compatible. Same as your HP machine and Dell dock.

Sorry, I don't know and have not tested Dell docks on HP machines. But your HP machine should be compatible with HP docks on the following list (please look at few last pages)

           https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04168358

And looks like they are much cheaper.

Regards.
