HP laptop 15-bs0xx / 1VM77EA#AB9
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm looking to buy a new monitor for my HP laptop 15-bs0xx (PN: 1VM77EA#AB9 ) and am trying to figure out if it's HDMI video output will support 4K resolution.

If not, what is the maximum resolution supported via HDMI port on my laptop and what is the HDMI version present on this laptop?

Hi,

No. It supports

HDMI version 1.4b supporting 1920 ×1080 @ 60H

Hope it helps,

David

Hi,

Sorry, I don't get it since HDMI 1.4b intruduces 4K:

https://www.hdmi.org/spec/hdmi1_4b

And the Intel HD Graphics 620 also supports it:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/products/96551/graphics-drivers/graphics-for-7th-gen...

So is there any other hardware limitation? Is there any way to turn arround it (firmware)?

Thank you!

There is no way to change it. It is what the port in the notebook can display.

Usually true UHD content comes with HDMI 2.0.

David

David,

I'm sorry, your answer is incorrect:

1St - HDMI 1.4b is 4k as you can see in the link abobe. Unless HP introduced some restriction, it should be capable to support 4K; HDMI 2.1 is for 8K...

2nd - Intel HD 620 also supports 4K, unless, as above point HP limited the hardware/ driver;

3rd - I now have a new 27'' monitor (took the risk of buying it!) connected via HDMI to this laptop working at 2560x1440 @60Hz, so your information is clearly wrong in this point! This monitor is not 4K, so I can't try it, however YES, this HDMI port is definitely capable of more than 1920x1080!

Hope this helps other users. I realy need a larger monitor with full RGB support, so if I had belived your awnser, I would ended buying a new computer spending money without  necessity...

Regards,

Pedro
