HP Z38c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

Does the HP Z38c -monitor support two PC/laptop sources at the same time? Like Picture-in--Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP)?

VIDEO INPUTS

DisplayPort™:  (1) DisplayPort™ 1.2

HDMI:              (1) HDMI 2.0

Note that one copy of Windows 10 allows two "non-maximized" windows to be displayed, side-by-side.

Click anywhere on the first window.  Hold-down the "Windows" key. Press the "left-arrow" key. Release both keys.
The window will fill the left 50% of the screen.
Click anywhere on the other window. Hold-down the "Windows" key. Press the "right-arrow" key. Release both keys.
The window will fill the right 50% of the screen.

Or, just drag first window "off" the left-edge of the display, and Windows will "snap" and resize the window to the left 50%.
Drag the second window "off" the right-edge of the display, and Windows will "snap" and resize the window to the right 50%

I have read that the "Windows 10 Fall Creators Update" has the capability to do a "picture-in-picture" type of display.
For example, a streaming-video can occupy the top-right corner of the display, and always stay in "front" of the other window. I have not tried it.

Thank you very much for your kind answer.

I was a bit unclear with my initial question, my bad.

I mean two separate laptop/PC sources as inputs for the monitor at the same time.

E.g. my laptop and PC, connected to the monitor at the same time and both displaying simultaneuosly to same wide screen.

I do not have this monitor yet, am in the market for one and seems the competition has this feature supported (along with a built in KVM-switch). However, I would prefer HP warranty and design, too.

Out of personal curiousity, which company's TV has this feature?

Almost all TVs with multiple-inputs have a "source" button, to select from its multiple sources (HDMI, coax, component, composite, S-Video), functioning like a KVM.  The only exception I've seen is a TV that had "preferential" input -- if it detected a signal on one source, it would automatically select that source, e.g., turn the connected DVD-player on, and it would override the other sources.

Hi mdklassen,

Apologies it has taken so long for me to respond...

At least these two monitors  which I was considering:

1) Dell U3818DW

2) LG 38UC99

All the best!

The z34c has this feature.  It appears that HP dropped it in the Z38c.  😞
