HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h0000 (534C7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

When I connect my envy 16 to the LG monitor (32QP880-B) via the thunderbolt 4 port, the monitor receives no signals. The USB-C port on the LG monitor support display, data transport, and 96 W PD delivery. There is a notification on the PC that "display connect might be limited". The PC is not charging either. It seems the LG monitor uses DP alt mode to transport data. The thunderbolt 4 on my PC does not support this mode? How can I solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

What is the model/product of your HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h0000 (534C7AV) . It should have

  • 2 x USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 4 with USB4 SuperSpeed 40 Gbps signaling rate, USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge),
  • 1 x USB Type-A (SuperSpeed 10 Gbps signaling rate,
  • HP Sleep and Charge)

Yes, its  Thunderbolt™ 4 ports support Alt mode. You can use System info to find out what it is for example

Hi Banhien,

Thanks for the confirmation. The issue is that the thunderbolt 4 cannot be connected to the monitor with the type-c port, and the laptop is not charging either (the type-c port on the monitor provides 96 W PD). do you know what is the issue and how can I solve this. is there any thunderbolt 4 driver needed?

The monitor and the type-c port work perfectly with my Mac air, which has a thunderbolt 3.

Thanks and best regards,

I can't find the specs of machine 6P6Z8UA. Anyway, it should have same ports with the following machine (P/N: 6D8Y7EA #ABU)

                    HP ENVY Laptop 16-h0000na

which says it has
2 Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C® 40Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) ports.

Yes, they supports Alt mode also charge using USB-C ports.

Try to use 100W Adapter with 20V/5A. Or Thunderbolt dock station with 100w charging.
I hope it will be solve

No, 100W is too weak. It needs at least 150W
