Hi,
I recently had some water on my laptop case and I believe it effected my camera. I tried to open camera, but I got an error: 0xA00F4244 – The system cannot detect the camera. After that, I searched what the problem was and one of the possible solutions was to remove and reinstall the camera again. I've removed it through device management, but now I don't know how to install it again. I get this error now: 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>

I've checked with HP support to check if I need any drivers, but it didn't show up there.
Does anyone know how I can install my camera again and maybe some more tips if just installing the camera doesn't fix the problem with water damage.

My laptop is a: HP Pavilion Laptop 15
Windows 11

Thanks!

Hi @Léon-vds,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion 15 laptop is not detecting the built-in camera after water exposure, and uninstalling it in Device Manager now shows error 0xA00F4244 – No cameras are attached. Let’s go step by step.

1. Check for Physical Damage

Since there was water exposure, it’s possible the camera hardware itself is damaged.

Water can cause short circuits or corrosion, which prevents the camera from being recognized.

2. Run Windows Hardware Troubleshooter

Press Windows + I → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters.

Select Hardware and Devices → Run the troubleshooter.

This may detect the camera if it’s still functional.

3. Check Device Manager

Open Device Manager → View → Show hidden devices.

Look under Cameras, Imaging Devices, or Sound, video and game controllers.

If you see the camera, right-click → Enable device.

If it’s missing completely, Windows does not detect any camera hardware, likely due to hardware damage.

4. Reinstall Camera Driver

Normally, uninstalling in Device Manager allows Windows to reinstall it on restart.

Since HP support shows no camera driver, try:

Go to HP Pavilion 15 Drivers & Software → select your model.

Download the latest camera driver under Driver – Camera.

Install it manually and restart.

5. Check Windows Privacy Settings

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Ensure camera access for this device and allow apps to access your camera are turned on.

I hope this helps.
