Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Pavilion 15-eg0050TX with USB-C which supports DisplayPort 1.4 (according to the machine specifications).

Product name: 15-eg0050TX

Product number: 2H9H3PA

If I buy a HP dock can I connect to two 1440p external monitors? (i.e. 2560 x 1440 @ 60Hz)

I already tried to connect the montiors using a generic hub. One monitor displayed perfectly, but the other monitor dropped to 1080p @ 30Hz.

When I spoke to an support agent over the phone they told me this machine can not output to two monitors, even using a HP dock.

But the specification says it has USB-C with DP 1.4.

I am very confused... am I missing something...?

Thank you

The answer to my question is yes, my machine does support dual monitors, since it has USB-C which supports DisplayPort 1.4 / DP Alt Mode.

There seemed to be an unknown issue with the generic hub I was using. My laptop is able to output 2x 1440p fine with a HP dock.

The tech support agent I spoke to was incorrect. They lacked a basic understanding of the product and product compatibility.

It is unacceptable to provide misinform to a customer regarding their product, particularly telling them that thier product is not capable of something which it is, and to then follow that claim by trying to UPSELL them a 'better' product. Which is what happened to me.
