I have a HP Pavilion, product number 2H9H3PA.

This laptop has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge).

Can I connect two displays via the single USB-C port?

More specifically, I have two displays and each has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440. So can I connect these displays and view them at their native resolution?

Thank you

The answer to my question is yes, my machine does support dual monitors, since it has USB-C which supports DisplayPort 1.4 / DP Alt Mode.

However, for some reason, the particular USB-C to Dual DisplayPort 4K Adapter was causing me trouble.

The adapter worked perfectly fine for my Z Book which has USB-C with thunderbolt. However, when I connected it to my Pavilion, only one external monitor would display at 1440p, and the other at 1080p only.

Not sure why, but I would love to understand the reason. My Pavilion is able to output 2x 1440p fine with a HP dock.

Did you know resolution goes up refresh rate would go down and vice versa. You can't connect 2 monitors to USB-C port, more information

I don't know your machine, what is it ? You may be able to connect 2 monitors using a compatible dock BUT what is it ?

Regards.

@banhein, thanks for your quick reply.

I understand as resolution goes up refresh rate would go down and vice versa. I am not sure how accurate it is but I found this table online with the corresponding data rates for a single 1440p @ 75 Hz display.

My machine details are:

Name: HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0050TX

Number: 2H9H3PA
Link: https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c07030368

I would like to connect two monitors via a USB-C to Dual DisplayPort 4K Adapter. The adapter says it supports simultaneous 4K Ultra HD 2160p connections.

Product Code: COCMDP02

Link: COCMDP02 Adapter

Could you please let me know if my machine can run dual monitors using this adapter at their native resolution?

Kind regards
