HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3Y0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi Everyone, I am trying to set up my new laptop and having problems with the display to the monitor using the VGA port. I have purchased a USB-C to HDMI and VGA adaptor (Keji, Officeworks brand). The HDMI monitor is fine. When checking on display it only shows 2, I presume that is the laptop and the hdmi monitor. Not sure how to get it to add another monitor. \

Note the adaptor is supposedly for "dual monitors set up, HDMI and VGA work at the same time digital audio output".

Would Comsol adaptor, which is more expensive, better? Or any suggestions what can I do to get the other monitor working? Thank you

What is your HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3Y0AV) machine ? USB-C to HDMI then to VGA won't work. Your machine could be one of the following over 150 machines

             https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/product-specs/hp-laptop-pc-15-dw3000/model/2100000420

For example :  HP Laptop 15-dw3012ca

It ONLY has 1 hopeless SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to VGA adapter

Regards

I haven't heard of a usb-a port. Will investigate. Thank you for your response.
