Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I tried to set up new laptop but i have difficulties with touchpad. It was not working since the begining of setup process. It works partially when i press it strong enough but other than that it's unusable. Seems to me like a driver issue, I remember having such issue after W11 upgrade on a different laptop. But this is a new laptop from HP renew program, i bought it as christmas gift and sending it on a warranty day after buying donsen't look good to me, so first I would like to try and see if there's any solution.
Things i tried:

- updated driver and old driver
- drivers from HP website
- Touchpad sensitivity set up on every possible setting
- uninsitalling the driver, installing again
- uefi test(also touchpad not working)

Please help me solve that before i decide to send it on a warranty.

Hi @Andrzej1958,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, and it's unfortunate that the issue persists. Here are a few more suggestions you can try to resolve the touchpad problem on your Victus by HP gaming laptop.

Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully up-to-date. Sometimes, new updates include fixes for hardware-related issues.

BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there is a BIOS or UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website. A firmware update might address compatibility issues.

Reset Touchpad Settings: Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Touchpad" and reset the touchpad settings to their default values. Sometimes, custom settings can cause issues.

Recovery Options: If the laptop is new and the issue persists, you might consider using the built-in Windows recovery options to reset the system to its factory settings. This can be a last resort if other solutions don't work.

External Mouse: If available, connect an external USB mouse to your laptop. Check if the external mouse works properly. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the touchpad or if it's a broader problem.

HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant tool to check for any hardware issues or updates. It may provide additional diagnostic information.

System File Checker (SFC) and DISM: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:

sfc /scannow

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

These commands check and repair system files that might be causing issues.

Check for Windows 11 Compatibility: If your laptop came with Windows 10 and you upgraded it to Windows 11, make sure that the laptop is fully compatible with Windows 11. Check the HP website for compatibility information and any specific drivers required for Windows 11.

Remember to back up any important data before performing a system restore or reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden,

none of this works, recovering will be too much of a hassle for me. External mouse is fully operating, system and bios is up to date, laptop came with W11 so it wasn't upgraded. sfc /scannow also does nothing. I assume it's hardware issue, something to be fixed under warranty. thanks for the reply,
