HP Notebook 15s-fq1041ns
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Like many other people suffered, my touchpad has stopped working when updating windows. Windows Update switched the driver to a Microsoft generic one which is not working. When I enter the model in the Driver section, it offers no results, everything is empty. I tried with the Elan Touchpad for model 15s-fq1040ns instead, and used the Device Manager to change the drive to the file contained in SP111394, which is supposed to be the latest Elan Touchpad driver.

Still not working. Factory reset also done and still not working. Please, give me detailed instructions as of how to fix this issue. I also need a link to the correct driver I need for the touchpad.

Thanks.

Hello @drachodran

(1) Download HP Support Assistant and update all drivers and check for driver/hardware issues

https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-support-assistant

(2) Reboot and test again ...

best regards

Hi, thanks. That does not help. The support assistant did not install the correct driver. I need a manual solution on how to remove the wrong driver and to install the correct one. Please inform me of which Elan Touchpad driver works with Windows 10 21H1

Hello @drachodran1

The HP Support and drivers page does not offer drivers (could be a technical problem @HP):

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15s-fq1000-laptop-pc-series/29322771/model/32112...

I cannot provide you drivers right now...

Contact HP to get the required driver:

best regards

Hi! I installed Windows 11 and the problem went away by itself. Now it is working. It seems that Windows 11 has the correct driver for the device.
