Product: Pavilion Gaming 17-cd0033na
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I bought a Pavilion Gaming 17-cd0033na Laptop in September. I only got to partly set it up, and then for a number of reasons it has been lying unused since. I have just switched it back on; the battery was flat and I got a message "Bios checksum invalid" and something like "will now reset to default". It is now charged and booted. I have lost the touchpad settings I had entered, and the Elan touchpad settings tab from the mouse properties has disappeared. Following all the uninstall/reinstall reset options in this post did no good, and the "Elan touchpad settings" app is no longer be found in the MS Store."
I downloaded and installed the "Elan touchpad settings" stated in this post, I'm guessing it would have been the same version or a later one.
It has installed, but when I open it, I get a blank settings box. There are some hits on google talking about this, but the solution seems to be use the registry to make the settings, which isn't acceptable.

Please download and install ELAN Precision Touchpad Filter Driver:

Regards.

That didn't make any difference. sp98186 appears to be the same driver version (22.2.8.1) as sp98758 which was the file in the second link of my first post, but sp98186 (4.56MB) is the driver only whereas sp98758 (39.6MB) includes the Elan Touchpad Setting app (the one that comes up blank).
