HP EliteDisplay E243m 23.8-inch Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to connect my new docking monitor E243m to my labtop via the USB Type B connector according to instructions in user manual (picture below).
While the labtop recognizes the USB connection, e.g. it registers the mouse and keyboard connected to the monitor, the display connection is not working. The monitor displays 'no signal, going to sleep'. There is no menu to manually connect the display via this port, unlike for HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA. The labtop does not detect the monitor in display settings.

The labtop usb port and cable are fine: they work in the same setup using a different HP monitor we have Elite Display E243d.

Can someone help me fix this?

Thank you!!

That USB-B cable is for up stream which allows you to connect to other devices such as mouse, keyboard ... . You need a Displayport or HDMI cable to transfer video.

Regards.
