Elitebook 745 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The EliteBook 745 G6 (7RX05UT) comes with an HMDI port and a USB-C that is capable of handing display.  I want to know if I can connect an external monitor to each port and use all three displays simultaneously, or will I need to incorporate a docking station for two external displays?

Just wanted to let you (and everyone) know that connecting the USB-C to VGA adapter and an HDMI cable will allow you to run both monitors, as well as the laptop display itself, simultaneously.  It was zero effort.  There are several different types of USB-C ports, and the information is hard to come by in any manuals, but it can be done!

The USB-C port does not supports video out directly. If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors, please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few options on market today including some HP products:

Thank you for your response.

I understand the laptop comes with a (1) USB Type-C (Alt Mode)…. I know that USB-C does not support video directly, but I was under the impression that a USB-C Alt Mode does.

The laptop actually does have optional accessories that support this theory, such as USB-C to DisplayPort adapters.  However, I know the documentation can be confusing about what is POSSIBLE on a laptop vs. what is actually installed on a specific model.  But since this one seems to specifically state it comes with Alt Mode, this response confuses me.

I found the accessories I was looking for that support the concept of getting video from USB-C (alt mode):

HP USB-C to DP (N9K78AA)
HP USB-C to VGA (N9K76AA)
