HP EliteBook 830 G5 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 830 G5 laptop and it cannot connect to an external monitor via a single C to C cable. The external monitor only works properly when I apply power to another USB type C port on it and connect it to the laptop using a C to C cable. Occasionally, when I unplug the monitor's power source, it still works fine. usually until I unplug the c to c cable connected to the laptop. After that, I plugged the cable back in and the external monitor didn't work anymore. I wonder if it's due to a setting in the Bios that causes the Thunderbolt port on the HP 830 G5 to work unstable when connected to an external monitor via a c to c cable. Thank you for listening and answering my question.

@User091

What is your monitor ? Does it come with an AC adapter ?

Regards.

My external monitor is OEM type, origin unknown. But I'm sure it works well with Dell laptops and Macbooks with just a single C to C cable. And my external monitor doesn't have AC power, I power it through another type C port.
