I have a new HP Elitebook 850 G7 and the HP USB-C Dock G5.
I also have 2 4k displays.
I replaced an older Elitebook with this one, hoping it could handle the displays. Sadly, HP's documentation only explains that the 850 G7 can handle 4k, and it also says it can handle multiple displays. It doesn't specify that once you connect a 4K display, that the highest resolution the second display will reach is 1280x1024.
Am I missing something? As I fooled around with the resolutions of the multiple displays, the BEST I could achieve was 1920x1080 on both displays, a far cry from 4k.
I am not using the machine for gaming, I just regularly use huge spreadsheets for work and would like to use that real estate.
I guess I will continue to plug and unplug, and try different ways of connecting, but apart from buying some kind of External GPU device for upward of $1,000 I can't see how to make it work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Banhien
I want to make sure I understand your post. I used the cables that came with the LG UHD displays.
if I understand, then it’s possible that the factory cables that came with the displays are not enough, and that in order to accomplish 2 4K displays, I need D1.4 cables, yes?
I just ordered 2 D1.4a cables, which should be here Thursday, and I’ll let you know the results.
Thank you.

I replaced the cables that were supplied by with my monitors, D1.2 with 2 D1.4a cables, and there is no difference.
I still can't increase the resolutions of either display past 1920x1080 without severely limiting the resolution of the second display.
What am I missing?
