I am really disappointed with the track pad/ click pad on my new envy laptop.

I went from Mac book air to this one thinking that similar price range would be at least similar performance if not exactly the same.

I find that I can hardly work with this track pad. If I click something, for example a browser tab (to give it focus) then touch the pad again to move the mouse it acts like a press and hold, rearranging my tabs which is not at all what I wanted! Same if I click to focus an icon and then move the mouse, it creates a selection box following my pointer as if I had done a press and hold.

To avoid it I have to click, then wait for a second and THEN move my cursor.

I can't halt my work and pause for a second to wait for my track pad to catch up with me ever so often. Is there a setting to change this stupid behavior? Or is it a known issue even?

Or does my hardware have a problem?

Incredibly annoying.

@Mwelander82 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the Envy laptop touchpad is not working properly.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

When it was working before?

Have you made any changes to the computer?

Please uninstall the touchpad drivers from the device manager and reinstall the drivers. Also, update the BIOs and check.

Please click the below link to download the drivers.
