HP Envy 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The left hinge of my HP ENVY x360 just broke and the screen popped loose down in the left corner.

I purchased this laptop November 27, 2020 so I’ve had it just a little over a year. I have not dropped or misused the computer in any way. On the contrary, I’ve kept very good care of it. I love this laptop. In fact, I’ve recommended it to others.

Based on numerous complaints on this problem on this forum (and elsewhere), it is obvious that the hinge design is poor.

I am obviously very unhappy with this and think that HP should provide a repair at no charge. A computer in this price range should not break after just one year of normal usage.

Thank you!!

Hi@Christy31,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

I have somewhat the same probem here. (envy 17m-ae011dx)  The plastic palmrest that has threaded insert and support the hinges of the very heavy screen are not up to the task, very poor design the plastic has some "nerves" but  are not solid or good strong plastic so pop or cracks relatively easy, this computer has around 4 or 5 years of service i think and the problem started around a year and a half maybe with little gap between the bottom and the palmrest parts, eventually getting worse, I managed to use epoxy to fix al the shattered and popped plastic attach zones but eventually it broke again. Going cheap for a "up market" or "premium" Laptop is a bad move, the battery also swelled

I need a replacement but in my country (Argentina) there is none, I can purchase to Aliexpress or Ebay (there is not much) but I need advice on a trusty store or if HP can officially can sell me one will be great

(I will make another thread if necessary, thanks)
