Hi,
After performing a windows update, the applications can't detect the builtin camera although the camera is showing that it's installed properly on the device manager.
The problem remains the same, although I've tried all standard fixing steps, such as:
- Ensure the Camera is Enabled
- Update / Reinstall Camera Drivers
- Check Privacy Settings
- Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Check for Windows Updates
- BIOS update/default.
The hardware IDs are:

I've downloaded the relevant drivers and tried updating the driver accordingly, but it didn't help.
Any help?

Hi @HaniFarrag ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've already tried a comprehensive set of troubleshooting steps, but the issue with the built-in camera on your HP Spectre x360 persists. Given the error code 0xA00F4244 ("No cameras are attached"), it seems like there might be an underlying driver or firmware issue or a conflict that isn't immediately apparent.
Here are a few additional steps you can try:
1. Uninstall and Reinstall the Camera Driver with a Clean Reboot:
Uninstall the Camera Driver:
- Open Device Manager.
- Find the Camera under the Imaging devices or Cameras section.
- Right-click on the camera and select Uninstall device.
- Check the option for Delete the driver software for this device, if available, and click Uninstall.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and then click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items here.
- Close Task Manager and click OK in the System Configuration window.
- Restart your computer.
Reinstall the Camera Driver:
- After rebooting, go back to Device Manager.
- Click on Action > Scan for hardware changes. This should reinstall the default camera driver.
- Alternatively, manually download the latest driver from the HP website and install it.
2. Disable and Re-enable the Camera in BIOS:
Sometimes, the camera might be disabled at the BIOS level:
Access the BIOS Setup Utility:
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press Esc or F10 (the key might differ depending on your model) to enter the BIOS setup.
Check the Camera Settings:
- Look for an Integrated Peripherals or Advanced tab where the camera settings might be listed.
- Ensure the camera is enabled.
Save and Exit:
- Save changes and exit the BIOS setup.
3. Check for Conflicting Devices or Software:
- Conflicting Software: Make sure no other application is trying to control the camera. Close applications like Skype, Zoom, etc., that might have access to the camera.
- Device Conflicts: Check Device Manager for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark or error under Universal Serial Bus controllers or Imaging devices.
4. Roll Back Windows Update:
If the issue started after a Windows update and none of the above steps worked, rolling back the update might help:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on View update history.
- Select Uninstall updates.
- Find the most recent update (usually listed by date) and uninstall it.
5. Check for Malware or Corrupted System Files:
- Run a Malware Scan: Use Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus software to scan for malware.
- Run System File Checker and DISM:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Run sfc /scannow to check for corrupted system files.
- Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to repair any corrupted files that SFC couldn't fix.
6. Test the Camera in Another User Account:
- Create a new local user account and test if the camera works under that account. This will help determine if the issue is user profile specific.
7. Hardware Check:
If none of the software solutions work, there might be a hardware issue:
- External Camera Test: Connect an external USB camera to see if that works. This will help isolate if it's a camera-specific issue.
- HP Hardware Diagnostics: Use HP’s built-in hardware diagnostics to check for hardware issues. Restart the laptop and repeatedly press F2 to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures

Hello Gaya,
I have seen that you have supported another user with this issue.
I have the same problem.
The driver of the camera is installed, but Teams and Windows apps cannot find the camera.
What can I do to solve my problem.
Thank you in advance.
