Extended display for my HP laptop keeps going into power save mode - Why? Fix?

17x2000 laptop (7EF33AV) and Dell extended display connected via display port into hdmi adapter into hdmi port on laptop.  Display persistently reverts to power save mode several times every day.

Power Settings:

• Ensure your laptop's power settings aren't putting the display to sleep.
  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep and check the settings for "Screen" and "Sleep".
  • Set the screen to turn off after a longer period, or never when plugged in.

Display Settings:

• Check your display settings to make sure the extended display is properly configured.
  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  • Ensure the Dell display is recognized and set to Extend these displays.

Graphics Drivers:

• Update your graphics drivers. Outdated drivers can cause display issues.
  • Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your model (HP 17x2000).
  • Alternatively, you can use the Device Manager to check for updates.
    • Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card, and select Update driver.

Cable and Adapter:

• Faulty cables or adapters can cause the display to lose connection and enter power save mode.
  • Try using a different DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
  • If possible, use a direct HDMI to HDMI connection or try a different HDMI cable.

Display Settings on Dell Monitor:

• Ensure the Dell monitor itself isn’t set to enter power save mode too quickly.
  • Use the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu to check power-saving settings.
  • Disable any power-saving features or set a longer duration before it enters power save mode.

Display Refresh Rate:

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

Sleep Mode or Hibernate:
