I have been having a really annoying problem on my external Acer UHD4k2K monitor for several weeks - it will intermittenly go black, it seemed to be triggered by power supply noise such as when my fan heater tripped in and out or the microwave was used - it seemed to be getting worse to the point it was happening 50+ times a day.

The problem is the the Intel Display driver is set (by default it would seem) to drive 4K (3840x2160) at 59hz.

Switching it (by right clicking the desktop and  choosing Graphics properties to open the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel) - and selecting 60hz in the drop down has 'magically' solved the problem.

I guess it's some kind of sync issue and 59hz is 'close enough' for the Acer monitor to lock in (most of the time)

Hope it helps someone ... that's my good deed for the day done

Reply if it helped you - maybe we can get HP/Intel to fix this !

I'm still in the testing phase of the exact opposite theory - I switched mine to 60 when I got a new mini DP to full DP cable, rather than using an adapter with standard cable, and I started seeing this problem again. I thought a long time and just came up with this potential solution. If it hasn't gone black again on the 59Hz setting after a few hours, I'll message again here, or otherwise. But if I've cracked it for mine, it deepens the mystery! I'm running the 4109na Spectre 360 with an Asus PB287Q 4k screen.

It's three hours in and it hasn't gone black. So my solution was to change it to 59Hz in the Intel Display settings, found by right-clicking the desktop. I'm sorry that this is the opposite of your solution, but maybe it'll help others!
