Spectre 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've recently purchased a new HP Spectre and it's excellent other than one little (F***ing infuriating) issue.

When working from my desk, I'm connected, via a dock, to three external monitors. The trouble is that one of the monitors will not dim and it's like staring at the bloody sun. I'm truly not exaggerating when I say, it hurts to look at this monitor, particularly at night, or if whatever's on display is white.

Now obviously, I've double-checked the monitor's brightness settings, which are definitely set correctly. I've also tried playing around with the windows settings to no avail.

Finally, it may be fair to assume that the monitor is faulty, however I have now tested it with two other laptops and the monitor is definitely working fine.

So what could it be about the Spectre that doesn't let me adjust the brightness settings on a single external monitor? I seriously hope there is  solution as I just can't use it as it currently is. It would be such a shame to have to return the laptop over something like this as it's generally such a great piece of kit.

TIA

Cal

@Jheeley01, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

As I Understand the brightness adjustment doesn't work in Windows 10 latest build 2004,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you attempted to enable the generic PnP monitor after the update was installed?

If you haven't, here's what you need to do:

1) Search for Device Manager in Start Menu
2) Expand the Monitors section
3) Right-click on Generic PnP Monitor and
4) Click on Enable and you are good!

Step. 2

  1. Update the HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)
  2. Intel® Driver & Support Assistant  the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics, drivers
  3. Windows Update.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
