External Monitor Not Connecting

HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)



I tried connecting the following monitor: SAMSUNG 27" FHD Flat Monitor with Super-Slim Design - LS27F354FHNXZA. I did install the driver for this monitor. I tried checking the drivers for the HP laptop and it's stuck been on a screen on the HP website saying "Please wait while we update your drivers" for a while now. I am using HDMI to USB and I am wondering if that's the issue and if I should have been using HDMI to USB-C. Anyways, the monitor is not displaying.

The general issue with these situations is the adapter -- and those often do not work.  I had to go through three such USB adapters until I was able to find one with its own drivers -- and of the three, it was the only one that worked -- and continues to work because they update the drivers every month.


If the drivers don't work, you are stuck and the only recourse is to try a different adapter.
