I want to run a second external monitor from my HP Laptop, connected from its USBC (3.0) port to the Samsung SyncMaster 933HD HDMI port, but using what seems to be a suitable cable, the screen says there is 'No Signal'. When connecting the laptop to the monitor via HDMI to HMDI, it works fine. Any suggestions please!

Hello.
Your laptop USB-C port does not support "DP Alt mode" video output, which your cable likely requires.
Your options are practically limited to a DisplayLink based product, which connects to either your USB-C or USB-A ports and which create a virtual display driver which provides the output through the USB adapter.
There are many Displaylink products to choose from. Use this page to start hunting a proper product:

Some of those USB docking station products may have multiple display outputs but they likely require the DP Alt mode for anything beyond 1 external display. Some products can also act as a laptop charger but your laptop unfortunately cannot be charged through the USB-C port, so no point in spending extra on such product. (they products will work and won't fry your laptop, though)
