Hey!
I`m new to the HP community, so I hope I`m doing this right. I just bought a HP Envy x360 13-ay0286ng for using it as an extremely mobile workstation for media creation. I did chose the ryzen/amd envy one (vs. spectre), because of the little bit more power on the gpu side.
After starting the machine I was shocked about the very limited viewing angle of the screen. I think there is only an 1inch circle area where I can move my head without significally decreasing the viewing quality - especially vertically. I thought this must be a malfunction so I contacted the HP Support via Messenger. There I was asked, if I could please deactivate the HP Sure View functionality. I did - and I realised it wasn´t even activated. Now in active state the screen only gets 25% darker without any other effect. I`ve shared some photos/videos with the support, but at first I was said this is a normal behaviour, while with the video they will now take a deeper look with the tech team.
I did a bit of research and found several postings describing the same failure. (for example: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Extremely-Narrow-Viewing-Angle/td-p/7...) I still can`t believe that his is really meant to be normal. I can`t work with this screen. Also I don`t understand the HP Sure View feature, or better: technology, if the only effect is a darker screen without any effect on the viewing angle itself.
Can anyone of you having an Envy x360 13" please take a look at the HP Sure View feature and describe, if it is also only a brightness change for you, activating/deactivating it? I still believe there`s sth. wrong with my machine and it is like the feature is always activated.
Beside that, does anybody know if there are Envy x360 13" models out there without the HP Sure View tech and these issues? I searched the web a bit, but can`t find a reliable source.
Thanks and kind regards!

I'm searching for someone with the same experience right now. I bought this machine for drawing and when I place it on the table, in a tablet mode and try to draw on it, I see everything extremely dark and I have to be bend in one exact position above the machine to see everything in a normal light.. I'm very disappointed right now, because it seems this is normal. I'll be returning mine device, because I cannot work (draw) with so bad lighting and my neck hurts when I'm bend over it so much..

@tiwookie and @HaruTrepp, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The feature is just the way the privacy protection is designed to work, so others next to you do not get to see the screen.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

@HaruTrepp
Feel your pain. I bought it for media editing, so i stumbled over the same problems.
@TEJ1602
Thanks for reaching out, but I had the chance to talk with the support again, and they confirmed it is "working as expected". I'm shocked. So the postings were right stating the current HP Sure View Gen is a nightmare. I already sent the device back. Thinking about buying a version without the HP Sure View tech - or a convertible from another Manufacturer.
