Hi @Amy131188,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can provide you with general guidance on how to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue with your function keys (F2 and F3) not working after the replacement of your laptop's battery and motherboard, and the reinstallation of the operating system.

Check Keyboard Settings:

  • Sometimes, the function keys may be disabled or their functionality may be altered in the keyboard settings. You can check these settings in the Control Panel or through your laptop's specific keyboard settings utility.

Update Drivers:

  • It's possible that the drivers for your keyboard need to be updated or reinstalled. You can do this by going to the HP website and locating the drivers for your specific laptop model. Look for the keyboard or input device drivers and download/install them.

HP Support Website:

  • HP provides support for their devices on their official website. You can visit the HP support website, enter your laptop's model number, and look for drivers and downloads specifically tailored for your device. Here's the link: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads

Function Key Functionality:

  • Some laptops have an option in the BIOS settings to toggle the functionality of the function keys. Make sure that the function keys are set to operate as standard function keys rather than multimedia keys if you want to use them for brightness control.

Remember to always be cautious when downloading drivers or software from the internet. It's safest to get them directly from the HP official website to avoid any potential security risks.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
