I purchased an HP Envy 15" about 3 months ago. I really enjoyed the laptop and it was giving good perfomances.
When I realized the internal microphone and some indicator lights didn't work I contacted HP customer service. After a very long repair proces (Several calls, factory resets and an off-site repair) it got back to me through the mail. They supposedly replaced the motherboard. The things that didn't work were fixed and i was happy.
I started playing my games again after some days and I found out that something was wrong. I am getting extremely annoying fps drops (on games like: League of legends, Valorant etc.). I am reaching 120 fps easily and it is dropping to 60 fps every 5 seconds or so. I wasn't getting these fps drops before the, previously mentioned, repair. This makes my gaming experience much worse and because of the nvidia graphics card which is built in it should be a lot better.
I have all the drivers updated so I don't know what's wrong. If I had to guess it has to do with the new motherboard but I'm not a pc expert.
I'm really tired of all these repair processes but this issue is even more annoying. I hope somebody has an easy solution that works.
Cheers,
Frustrated HP user

@Sheeper there are many ways to increase FPS and system performance:
-
Update the BIOS.
For desktop PCs, go to HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS.
For notebook PCs, go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS
-
Update the graphics driver.
Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your PC model, then select the driver for your graphics card.
-
Most games allow you to change the graphics settings. Using a lower graphic quality often improves FPS.
-
Close any applications or programs that are not being used.
-
Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Creators Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.
-
Press the Windows key and G to open the Game bar.
-
In the game bar, click Settings.
-
Click the check box next to the game title to enable Game Mode for that game.
Plug notebook PCs into an AC adapter to give the graphics card more power.
