HP OMEN Transcent 14

Hello. I bought a brand new HP OMEN Transcent 14 a few days ago. It has been working fine, but the screen suddenly started blinking last night. I tried restarting, but it didn’t work. I don’t know what is wrong with it. I have a pending Orthopaedic hospital project that needs to be done this week. Can someone help me solve this issue?

Hi @AmKirtisharma,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the screen blinking issue on your new HP OMEN Transcend 14. This problem has been linked to the Intel Arc graphics driver. Here's how you can address it:

Update the Intel Arc Graphics Driver

Many users have resolved the screen flickering by updating the Intel Arc graphics driver to the latest version. The pre-installed driver (e.g., version 32.0.101.5542) may have compatibility issues. To update:

  1. Download the Latest Driver:
  2. Install the Driver:
    • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Restart Your Laptop:
    • After installation, restart your laptop to apply the changes.

Users have reported that updating to driver versions like 32.0.101.6653 or later resolves the flickering issue. For instance, one user noted: "I installed the 32.0.101.6653 driver and it should work fine.

Alternative Temporary Solutions

If updating the driver doesn't immediately resolve the issue, consider these temporary workarounds:

  • Disable Intel Arc Graphics:
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click on Intel Arc Graphics and select Disable device
  • Set NVIDIA GPU as Preferred Graphics Processor:
    • Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
    • Navigate to Manage 3D settings.
    • Under Preferred graphics processor, select High-performance NVIDIA processor

Please note that these are temporary measures and may limit certain functionalities.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To rule out hardware issues:

  1. Access HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
    • Press F2 to enter the diagnostics tool.
  2. Run System Tests:
    • Select and run the System Tests to check for hardware malfunctions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
