This may not seem like a big deal but it hasn't happened before and it's quite offputting to look at. Last time I used it was Friday and the screen was absolutely fine. There's a faded/white part on the left side of my screen and I'm just wondering what it is and if it can be sorted without me having to take it to be repaired? My laptop is almost 5 years old now so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

@beccy1999
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
- Have you tried checking the display on an external monitor or TV?
- Are you able to see those white spots when the computer is turned off?
While you respond to that, let's try these steps: Firstly, let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data.
Next: Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the white spots are seen.
- Turn off you're computer
- Make sure you have connected the power cable
- Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the F10 button repeatedly, and check for the for white spots.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
