@Whippet3, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You're experiencing intermittent screen flickering and brief blackouts on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fc0000 (733M3AV) running Windows 11. This can be caused by several factors such as display drivers, refresh rate settings, or even hardware issues.

Let’s walk through some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this:

Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or corrupted display drivers are a common cause of screen flickering.

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display adapters.
  3. Right-click your graphics card (e.g., AMD Radeon or Intel) and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for drivers.

Alternatively, you can download the latest drivers directly from HP: Official HP® Support

Adjust Refresh Rate

Sometimes, setting the refresh rate to a compatible value helps.

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  2. Scroll down and click Advanced display settings.
  3. Under Refresh rate, try setting it to 60 Hz (or the recommended value).

Check for Windows Updates

Ensure your system is fully updated.

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

This will help rule out hardware issues.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Run the Display Test and System Test.

Boot in Safe Mode

This helps determine if a background app is causing the flicker.

  1. Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. Under the Boot tab, check Safe boot and select Minimal.
  3. Restart your PC and observe if the flickering persists.

If the flickering stops in Safe Mode, a third-party app or driver may be the culprit.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware-related problem, in that case, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United Kingdom | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
