Pavilion 15-ab216nz
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I downgraded this laptop Pavilion 15-ab216nz from Win 10 to Win 7 64-bit.

The function keys f1 -  12 are not working - which driver(s) are missing?

Thanks for the support

The issue is solved. Thanks for your answer.

As the function keys have 2 different functions:

a)  act as functions for the operating system (e.g.F3 exit, F5 reload, etc)

b)  act as hardware specific function (e.g. dim or bright the screen, increase or decrease volume)

Usually the a) is the default (without combining with the "fn" key)  for b) one has to use fhe "fn" key.

This computer works just the other way round, as I found out. There was no need to install software.

Kind regards

Hey there @Ngamani!

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand that functions keys are not working on your laptop.

1. Since you have downgraded your laptop to windows 7 HP does not recommend to do that.

2. As unit went with windows 10 preinstalled drivers are Windows 7 drivers are not available from HP.

3. As you have downgraded the operating system you will get limited support if you contact HP.

4. I can suggest you to update display driver and chipset drivers depending on what kind of processor you are using.

Please find the links below this will auto detect the drivers and update the drivers automatically.

Intel Driver auto-detect link: http://hp.care/2cu13pK

AMD Driver auto-detect link: http://hp.care/2cu1nVG

Let me know how it goes.

Have a great day!
