HP USB-C Dock G5
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a G5 dock a a Pavilion 15. It constantly crashes when plugged into the dock and is basically unusable. Tech support have just told me that my dock is not compatible, but on the product page on the website it says it is universally compatible with USB-C. Is there a solution? Preferably I would just return it as the page is misleading.

Hi @abphill302

What is your notebook model, does it block when you connect a monitor for example?

Hi, it's HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eh1xxx Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics, 1801 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s) OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Home Version 10.0.22631.

Most of the time when it's on the dock it's fine, but once an hour or so it freezes and becomes unusable. I'm using 2 x Samsung 32" LS32A700NWPXXU. If I use it with HDMI to a single monitor it is fine.

you have checked what memory capacity is available in the Task Manager when this error occurs

Yes there doesn't seem to be any change and there's no entries in the event viewer. It also doesn't happen when I'm not using the dock.

the important thing is to see the memory in the task manager, not in the event viewer, if the memory is for example at 80 % of use you will surely have laptop freezes.

I'm watching it but it hasn't happened yet

I understand, but it should be checked. how much memory does the laptop have?
