Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi HP Team and community,

This is kind of my last attempt to get help with this.

I assume this will go again without assistance, but I've been having GPU issues with this laptop since the very beginning. I have tried to get support from HP but still no working solutions have been provided.

Basically, the laptop cannot handle any graphics processing at all. Even playing basic games which advise "Recommended Nvidea 670 or better" I cannot play above 8 frames per second. This laptop is supposed to have a 1050ti in it!! Why is it so horrendous? It doesn't seem to matter what game i play, whether modern and intense, or retro, it simply cannot handle it. It even starts lagging in the game menu before you're even playing.

I implore HP to actually try this time as even though it's out of warranty, i have been trying to seek assistance from back when it was in warranty, and it would still not have reached it's expected fair life anyway (especially considering the price and decent specs).

So again, issue is, GPU cannot handle any graphics processing. When you look at the performance tab, it does indeed go to 99% Nvidea GPU usage, but makes no difference. All power and GPU settings have been tweaked multiple times to try and fix (including several times with HP support help).

Very disappointed, I went with HP because I thought they would be reliable and trustworthy. Really regretting going with HP, and adds salt to the wound that this laptop has already had to be replaced as the first one had overheating issues (laptop would get burning hot when charging, even if not in use during charging).

So, looking forward to some help.. albeit.. i'm not very hopeful anymore.

@Dreko there are many ways to increase FPS and system performance:

  • Update the BIOS.

For notebook PCs, go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS

  • Update the graphics driver.

Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your PC model, then select the driver for your graphics card.

  • Most games allow you to change the graphics settings. Using a lower graphic quality often improves FPS.

  • Close any applications or programs that are not being used.

  • Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Creators Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.

    1. Press the Windows key and G to open the Game bar.

    2. In the game bar, click Settings.

    3. Click the check box next to the game title to enable Game Mode for that game.

Plug notebook PCs into an AC adapter to give the graphics card more power.

If none of this helps, I suggest we Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
  • Click Extensive Test.
  • Click Run once, or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

P.S: Welcome to HP Community 😉

Let me know how that pans out,
