Hi, I’ve recently bought the HP SPECTRE X360 (ch001nc) with the Vega M and Kaby Lake G. The thing is that when I try to run games they always pickup bad resolution and act weird in fullscreen mode. For example I’ve downloaded the Fortnite and launched it. It has bad resolution and I cannot change it in the windowed mode and also doesnt run on Vega M but on Intel Gpu when on windowed mode. So when i try to switch to fullscreen it doesnt show it all over the screen. Its on the 1/2 of the screen or so. Only time it shows the game correctly is when I turn off the windows scaling. Same goes for hitman game.

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! Good day! I reviewed the post about games not being playable in full-screen mode. It will be a delight to assist you here.
Superb effort and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.
- Is it a recent occurrence? Did it happen after a Windows or software update?
- Did you try any troubleshooting?
In the meantime, you may try the below steps, as even if the game is compatible with your system hardware it may have a slow performance because you are using the windows 8, 8.1 or 10 as the OS uses most of the CPU & graphics card usage, you might want to reduce the visual effects for windows to save the amount of CPU & Graphics card usage required to run your game properly.
Here's how you do it:
· Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.
· Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
· In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.
· click Apply and ok...this should do the trick.
Then try playing different games and check. If it still does not work, try playing the game at a reduced frame rate and check.
- Please uninstall the ACPI battery drivers from device manager.
- Reset all power plans to factory defaults and then select high-performance option power from power options from this link: http://hp.care/2rUUbXB
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
- Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: https://hp.care/2J4oX8o and follow the on-screen instructions.
Drivers to be updated:
Bios
- HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors) F.12 Rev.A
Chipset
- Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver 8.4.10500.5526 Rev.A 8.2 MBFeb 21, 2018
- Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver
- Intel Software Guard Extensions Device (SGX) Driver
- Intel Virtual Buttons Driver
- Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver
Graphics:
- AMD Radeon RX VEGA M Driver 23.20.792.1280 Rev.A
Now check for issue resolution. If the problem continues, then perform these steps:
Other things to try:
- Check this document http://hp.care/2B4vyiX to improve FPS.
- Although it is for Omen series, the steps should still be relevant for your computer also.
- Please check this link:http://hp.care/2B7qGK0 for slow performance issues with the notebook. There is a section regarding games not working correctly. It is a guided troubleshooter.
If you have Intel and AMD switchable graphics then try to ensure that switchable graphics is enabled for both charger and battery from this link: http://hp.care/2xbrRVP
- Also, play games with the charger plugged in. It is recommended.
- This should do the trick for you.
If it persists, create a new local user account as an administrator and check if the issue gets resolved by following instructions from here:
- Then create a new user account as an administrator from this link: https://hp.care/2rZfJBC
Log into the new user account after restarting your computer. Now check if the games play in full-screen mode.
Also, ensure that all Windows updates are correctly installed and Windows 10 is up to date.
Please ensure to run HP support assistant and install all the latest HP updated and Windows updates as well.
This should correct the situation for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always.
