Hello, I bought an HP victus 15 around 2 years ago, it's been like 9 months where my nvidia gpu is not detected. It suddenly disappeared from device manager. I checked hidden devices and it was there with error code 45. I uninstalled the driver and tried reinstalling but it keeps saying not detected. I tried a lot of solutions on the internet and nothing worked. I even tried resetting my laptop and the same issue still persists. All my drivers are up to date, I never miss an update. PLEASE HELP!!

Thank you for trying all the steps.
Here’s what you can try next:
1. Check for GPU Detection in System Information
Press Win + R, type msinfo32, and hit Enter.
Navigate to Components → Display and check if your RTX 3050 is listed.
If it's missing, the GPU may not be properly connected or recognized by the system.
2. Check NVIDIA GPU Status via Command Prompt
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type: wmic path win32_videocontroller get name
This should list all detected GPUs. If the RTX 3050 is missing, it's not being recognized at the hardware level.
3. Force Enable GPU in Device Manager
Since the GPU is showing as Error Code 45 (hardware not connected):
Open Device Manager.
Find the hidden NVIDIA GPU (View → Show hidden devices).
Right-click on it and select Enable Device (if available).
If that doesn't work, right-click and select Scan for hardware changes.
4. Try a Hard Reset
Turn off the laptop.
Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Plug in only the charger and power it on.
Check if the GPU is detected.
5. Reset BIOS to Default
Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (press Esc or F10 repeatedly).
Look for Load Default Settings / Load Optimized Defaults and apply.
Save changes and restart.

Try these steps:
Ensure GPU Is Enabled in BIOS
Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or Del during startup).
Look for Advanced Settings → Graphics Configuration and ensure Switchable Graphics is Enabled.
If you see an option for Discrete GPU Only, enable it.
Save & Exit.
Check for Hardware Connection Issues
Error Code 45 suggests a hardware disconnection, which could mean a loose connection inside the laptop.
If your laptop is under warranty, contact HP support for a repair.
If you're comfortable opening your laptop:
Turn off & unplug the laptop.
Disconnect the battery.
Reseat the GPU connector (requires disassembling the laptop carefully).
Reset the PCIe Connection
Sometimes, Windows may disable the PCIe lane connected to your GPU.
Using Device Manager:
Go to Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
Expand System Devices.
Look for PCI Express Root Ports.
Right-click each and select Uninstall Device → Restart your PC.
Perform a Clean Installation of NVIDIA Drivers
A corrupted driver can prevent detection. Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove NVIDIA drivers completely:
Steps to Clean Install NVIDIA Drivers:
Download DDU.
Boot into Safe Mode (Shift + Restart → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Enable Safe Mode).
Run DDU and select Clean & Restart for NVIDIA.
After restarting, download & install the latest NVIDIA drivers from the official NVIDIA website.

I tried performing a clean installation of Nvidia drivers using DDU and reinstalled nvidia control panel and the latest update for my gpu, but nothing changed. The problem is that whenever i try to open anything like nvidia control panel or geforce experience it displays "No nvidia gpu is detected". I tried also uninstalling all PCI Express Root Ports and I still have the same problem. For the BIOS thing, in hp victus there's nothing like switchable graphics or Discrete GPU only. I don't know how to open my laptop and it's not under warranty anymore. Thank you for your help!
