Hello,
After I torrented this large video file (31GB), whenever I tried to access that folder or delete it, I will start to have black screens every few seconds and shortly after a BSOD saying video_TDR_failure (atikmpag.sys). I refreshed my laptop and mangaed to delete the file but i still keep getting the BSOD when i tried to open games. I have tried to reinstall the system driver and update its still not fixed. Help please and thanks in advance!

You've done a remarkable job performing the steps suggested earlier, great work 🙂
And don't worry, as we should be able to fix this up with a few more steps and I'll be with you until we ensure this issue is fixed.
How did you reinstall the OS, was it using a retail copy of windows from the local store,
Or did you make use of the HP Recovery media?
Follow every step, one at a time:
Step 1: Download and install the latest ATi graphic driver AND DONT TURN OFF OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AFTER INSTALLATION
Step 2: Then go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and rename atikmpag.sys to atikmpag.sys.old.
Step 3: Go to ati directory (usually in C:\ATI) and find the file atikmpag.sys.
Step 4: Copy the file to your Desktop directory.
Step 5: Open cmd.exe by going to Start -> type cmd in the search box and hit enter.
Step 6: Change the directory to Desktop by typing chdir Desktop.
Step 7: Then, type EXPAND.EXE atikmdag.sy_ atikmpag.sys. Or,
expand -r atikmpag.sy_ atikmpag.sys
Step 8: When the expansion is complete, copy the new atikmpag.sys from your Desktop to
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
Step 9: Restart your computer and the problem should be resolved.
I also found this video on YouTube that should help: Click here (atikmpag.sys - also mentioned as atikmdag.sys)

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand you get a BSOD with the error atikmpag.sys,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you reinstall the windows? is that what you meant by refreshed the laptop? if not, could you elaborate?
While you respond to that, here's a few things you could do:
- Restart the computer into the safe mode with networking,
- Go to C:windows/drivers/atikmpag.sys and deleted the file,
- Reboot and the BSOD shouldn't re-appear, then simply download the latest Ati graphics driver from HP to resolve the issue.
