Good morning. Yesterday afternoon, after working on my laptop all day, a green horizontal line appeared on the bottom of my screen, in the taskbar. I have updated my graphic drivers but it has not solved anything yet. Has anyone faced the same problem? How did you solve it? Thanks and best regards. I have already started the BIOS and the green line still appears, so it seems it has nothing to do with drivers.

Hi @RML_UPM,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're describing—a green horizontal line appearing on the screen—could be related to either a hardware or software problem. Since you've already updated the graphics drivers and checked the BIOS (where the line still appears), it's more likely to be a hardware issue.
Here are a few steps to further diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:
External Monitor Test:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI or VGA cable.
- If the green line does not appear on the external monitor, the issue is likely with your laptop's screen or its internal connections.
- If the green line does appear on the external monitor, the issue could be related to the graphics card or the motherboard.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the screen closely for any signs of physical damage, such as cracks or pressure marks.
- Sometimes, even minor physical damage can cause lines to appear on the screen.
Reset the Display Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Display and ensure that the display settings are correctly configured.
- Try adjusting the resolution and refresh rate to see if it affects the line.
Check for Loose Connections:
- If you're comfortable doing so, you can open the laptop and check for any loose connections between the screen and the motherboard. Ensure all cables are securely connected.
Hardware Diagnostics: HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- Run the built-in hardware diagnostics tool provided by HP. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears. Then press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool. Run the test for the display.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
